The two case studies analyzed are the development of the Huma Island Resort and Spa in the Philippines and the Meridian Adventure Dive Resort in Indonesia. These are both high-end resorts built in remote locations using modular construction methods. This new construction method is clearly the best approach for developing such resorts. The paper summarizes the process followed to develop both resorts to identify other good practices and the main problems likely to be encountered and how they can best be overcome. This analysis provides a detailed roadmap that future hotel developers can follow to effectively and efficiently create similar properties.</p> Gert Noordzy Richard Whitfield Li-Chun Lin Copyright (c) 2022 Value Management Journal 2022-09-23 2022-09-23 1 01 Applications of neural networks in defense projects and efforts: a mapping study <p><strong>Abstract:&nbsp;</strong>Defense is one domain that is very broad and diverse in nature with an enormous range of complex projects and efforts. In this field, the application of cutting-edge technologies is one of the keys in coping with the complexity and it has been actively pursued and researched by many countries. Currently, artificial intelligence is one of the most promising technologies that is predicted to shape the future of complex military projects and efforts. The objective of this paper is to obtain a more accurate vision of how far the use of neural networks has penetrated into military and defense projects. This article provides an overview of machine learning and deep learning, which is essential for understanding why militaries around world might use such algorithms to automate a range of military tasks. Furthermore, a systematic mapping study was conducted, which confirmed that these algorithms are already extensively employed as important components of several defense use cases and applications, with emphasis on image-related artificial intelligence tasks, also known as machine/deep vision. We also show that modern variants of neural networks, such as convolutional neural networks and convolutional recurrent neural networks, are commonly found, representing further evidence of the military’s will to quickly embrace cutting-edge technological paradigms.</p> Darli Vieira Alencar Bravo Rodrigo Dos Santos Copyright (c) 2022 Value Management Journal 2022-09-23 2022-09-23 1 01 Success Factors of a Technological Entrepreneurship Project <p><strong>Abstract -</strong> <em>This article has several objectives. First, this research wishes to state the existing knowledge about the technological entrepreneurship project concept. Secondly, the success indicators of this type of project and their factors determining this success have been identified. A systematic review of the literature has identified 29 articles on this subject. Although there are several definitions of the technological entrepreneurship concept, no clear definition of the technological entrepreneurship project concept was found. Data security concerns are critical during the entire lifecycle of any built asset from design until demolition. Unsuitable distribution of sensitive information may cause financial loss, lack of trust and even physical security threats. This paper highlights through a literature review the integration’s potentiality of Blockchain technology within BIM enabled projects that would tackle those security issues and would provide more trust and reliability.
